In 2010, CBWN addressed the CBF in Perth shaping the business case for increasing opportunities for women to trade internationally in the Commonwealth especially for women in developing countries and increasing their access to markets. In 2013, CBWN made the keynote address to the 10th Women Affairs Ministerial Meeting in Dhaka, Bangladesh, producing and presenting a report with ACCA under the auspices of CBC on Paving the way to opportunities: women in leadershipacross the Commonwealth. The PM of Jamaica (and first woman premier) referred to this work (in its Foreword ) as a ‘ground-breaking report [which] will serve as a resource to the Commonwealth as it seeks to work towards the empowerment of women.’

Sri Lanka hosted CHOGM 2013 and CBWN attended The Heads of Government Roundtable – a high-level dialogue on trade and investment between business and government leaders. We also took part in the Business Reception with His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales and convened a joint session with the Commonwealth Secretariat. The joint session on Women’s Economic Empowerment and Women in Leadership was the precursor to the first Commonwealth Women’s Forum (CWF) in 2015 which would be held in Malta.

In 2015, CBWN actively participated in the first CWF under the theme: ‘Women Ahead Be All That You Can Be’ in Malta. CBWN helped shape discussions and strategies for Women in Leadership and Women’s Economic Empowerment during the substantive plenary sessions and parallel workshops. CBWN held the 2nd Commonwealth Businesswomen Awards Gala Dinner which was attended by the Secretary General, the President of Malta, and Heads of Government.

In 2018, CBWN attended the second CWF (as part of CHOGM 2018) highlighting women’s positive political, economic and societal contributions and how women and girls were key to building sustainable and resilient societies, under the theme: “An empowered future for women and girls”. Our 3rd Commonwealth Businesswomen Awards night was held at the Mayfair Hotel in London and CBWN facilitated, through internet connection, a round table meeting with children in the presence of H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta.
